How do I determine what backset size I need for a stainless steel levers / handles?

Measure the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the bored hole. Most US doors have backsets of 2 3/8" or 2 3/4". Stainless Door Hardware levers include a 2 3/8” backset and a 2 ¾” backset is available for a minimal fee.

Can I use the stainless steel levers / handles for an exterior door?

Yes all stainless steel levers may be installed in an exterior application, but a separate dead bolt would need to be installed for locking. We offer that application and it can be ordered.

Do you get one or two stainless steel levers / handles with an order?

Stainless steel levers are sold by the set.  A set includes 1 handle for one side of the door and 1 handle for the other side of the door.

Does it matter if my door is right or left handed when selecting my stainless steel levers / handles?

No, because the latch included on each of our stainless steel levers, unless it is a stainless steel lever on a plate, is reversible and can be used with either right or left handed doors.

What is a Privacy function and when is it used?

Privacy stainless steel levers are typically used for bedroom and bathroom doors.  In an emergency these locks unlock on the outside by a round pin key (pin key is supplied by Stainless Door Hardware).

What is a Passage function and when is it used? 

Passage stainless steel levers are typically used for hallway and closet doors.  Both levers are always free to turn.

When will my order of stainless steel hardware ship?

Stainless Door Hardware generally ships orders within 24 hours. Our stainless steel hardware is sent via UPS Ground unless an upgrade has been selected from the check out screen. Most customers receive their orders within a week.

 What material are your products made from?

Unless otherwise indicated, our products are made of 100% stainless steel.

What is Stainless Steel?

Stainless Steel: defined by Wikipedia- it is an iron-carbon alloy with a minimum of 11.5wt% chromium content. Stainless steel does not stain, corrode or rust as easily as ordinary steel (it "stains less"), but is not stain-proof. 

What grade is your stainless steel?

Our stainless is high resistance Grade 304.

How do I maintain my new stainless steel hardware?

With proper care, all stainless steel decorative hardware should provide our customers with years of beauty.  Do not use harsh chemicals or cleaners.  We recommend our stainless steel cleaner (also available on our website) Stainless Steel Cleaner.

Our website is our catalog. We continually grow our product line and periodically update our website to reflect new offerings. Utilizing the web as our catalog allows us to quickly offer you new products without the delay of the printing and mailing process. By offering you this online catalog we also keep down company cost and are able to pass better savings to you the consumer. Can I return the stainless steel hardware or accessories if I don't like it?

Yes. We accept returns on most stainless steel hardware items unless they are special order. Unwanted items that are returned will incur a 20% restocking fee to process the return and shipping is your responsibility. If an item is defective, we will replace the item at our cost. Please do not return anything without obtaining a Return Goods Authorization (RGA). Please contact us to return your unwanted stainless steel hardware. No packages will be accepted without an RGA# posted on the package. Any items returned without authorization will be refused. Note: product must be in resalable condition.
