What is a backset?
The backset is the dimension of the latch from the edge of the door to the center line of the lever. With all US lever sets, you must have a latch which is the component that allows your door to close and stay closed. We offer 2 different backset dimensions.
- 2 3/8” backset = The standard dimension for most residential interior and exterior applications.
- 2 3/4” backset = More typical for a commercial application, but is occasionally used for residential applications.
