About MLK Day & The King Center

On the third Monday of every January, patrons of MLK Day celebrate the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., history’s most influential American civil rights leader. He is most recognized for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for racial equality in the US.

Although King unfortunately passed away many years ago, his legacy is still widely admired today, partially thanks to The King Center.

Established in 1968 by Coretta Scott King, The King Center is the official memorial dedicated to the advancement of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Countless visitors every year are drawn to The King Center in order to pay homage to the late Dr. King, view exhibits about his life, and visit The King Center’s Library.
